LAST TRAIN TO FORTUNE is the story of a clash of two cultures, and how education sets us free.

Our tale follows the loquacious CECIL PEACHTREE, a stuffy, well educated, English schoolteacher who’s only lived his life’s experiences through the books he so passionately loves, and DOOLEY, an illiterate outlaw who’s lived a reckless and dangerous life of actual adventure.

We open on CECIL standing on a dusty and desolate train platform. He’s been traveling across the Old West on his way to the tiny, frontier town of Fortune, where he'll begin a new job, and a new chapter of his life, as headmaster of the local schoolhouse. But when he learns he has missed the last train, CECIL is left stranded in the middle of nowhere, not knowing what to do next.

To make matters worse, CECIL is held up by DOOLEY, a fearsome gunslinger. After being robbed of all of his cash and personal possessions, CECIL harkens back to the age old adage made famous by Hippocrates, “Desperate times call for desperate measures”. With no other options available to him, CECIL goes against his better judgment and proposes a deal; If DOOLEY agrees to escort him to Fortune, he can have CECIL’S entire teacher’s stipend, a month’s pay, which is awaiting him upon his arrival.

Cash strapped, and desperate himself, DOOLEY reluctantly agrees. What unfolds is an arduous yet heartfelt journey, where our mismatched travelers form an uncommon bond. Along the way, they encounter ferocious bandits, harrowing horse chases, barroom brawls and bawdy saloon gals.

At a time when books are being banned across the country and education itself is under attack, LAST TRAIN TO FORTUNE is an allegory about how knowledge sets us free, a theme that couldn’t be more relevant than it is right now.
